“I try to fix certain things in my life to ensure the things that need to move, actually move.”
I’m curious how you think about this in practice. When you say “fix,” are you referring more to internal anchors (values, habits, boundaries) or to elements in the external world (problems in society, structure, environment, commitments)? What are those "things" usually?
And I’m also wondering about your choice of the word "fix". Why “fix”? What does "fix" capture for you that other verbs don’t?
Eray, actually I should thank you. You caught exactly what I was going for :)
I chose "fix" on purpose. I mostly mean "stabilizing." To move fast in some areas, I need others to be static like creating constants so variables can run wild. But you’re right, sometimes you have to repair the broken loops just to get there.
As for the "things"... usually it's structural stuff. For instance, I tried to fix my environment by physically relocating.
I also reduced other commitments, mostly by delegating to my partner. Fixing these coordinates basically clears the deck for new journeys…
Great piece, thank you for sharing it.
